Camp Casey and the Bring Them Home Now Tour...

Camp Casey was the name given to the encampment of anti-war protesters outside President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas during his five-week summer vacation there in 2005.  It was founded by Cindy Sheehan after she failed to get a second meeting with President Bush for an explanation of the cause for which her son, Casey, died. Create Crisis – it is the edge where change is possible, where opportunities emerge for our interests to become theirs. Escalation – start within the experience of your supporters and opponents, take steps increasing in intensity and moving outside the experience of your opponent. Think Outside the Bomb

What an amazingly powerful few days I had in Albuquerque, NM August 13-16th.   I went to offer trainings on nonviolent direct action and organizing at the Think Outside the Bomb conference.  I was very privileged to hear many powerful speakers including many Native America organizers who put out a clear call for support and solidarity around uranium mining and closing down Los Alamos National Laboratory. Some exciting seeds were planted of the idea of ongoing actions in 2010 — an important year for anti-nuclear work.  In May the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty will be renegotiated in New York.  President Obama has called for an end to nuclear weapons, but hat he does may be an entirely different thing.   ...
